Reptile Thefts

Two separate reptile thefts.

Iguana Stolen From Refuge

The Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge is asking for help finding an iguana named Spike.

Staffers said someone broke into the refuge Sunday night, and stole the 5-and-a-half foot iguana.

Spike is unique, because he has an orange tinge to his color, instead of the normal green. He was used in their educational programs.

Snakes Stolen From Home

A 6-foot boa constrictor and 10 other snakes were stolen during a house burglary in West Midlands, England.

Police Officers told BBC News the offenders put the reptiles, which included corn snakes and a 4-foot Kingsnake, into an empty cage and cloth sack.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "None of the snakes is believed to be dangerous, but all have special dietary needs and are likely to die if left without the necessary care."

It's just disturbing that someone could consiously steal someones pets. (would they have the gall to steal their kids?) I think not. Wrong is wrong. Not to mention they probably have no idea on how to care for these animals they have illegally "obtained" My reptile building has a 1/2 acre around it fenced in with to 2 well trained German Shepards that sleep there at night. They are my lap dogs during the day...Pinochio and Gepetto.
