Reptile, Amphibian Practice Specialty

AVMA seeks comments for proposed reptile, amphibian practice specialty.

The AVMA American Board of Veterinary Specialties is seeking comment from the public and the profession regarding the proposed reptile and amphibian practice specialty under the auspices of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.

The Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians first petitioned the ABVP in 2006 to begin the process toward recognition of the reptile and amphibian practice specialty.

The ABVP submitted a formal petition for recognition of the reptile and amphibian practice specialty to the ABVS Committee on the Development of New Specialties in December.

Comments must be received by Nov. 1. To comment, visit http://www.avma.org/onlnews/javma/mar08/080301d.asp.

i think that reptiles and amphibian vet pratice should have been a specialty a long time ago. The care they require is vastly different than any other group of animals. This will help keepers to pick better vets to take our animals to.
