NARBC Anaheim Auction

The 2009 Anaheim, Calif., North American Reptile Breeder’s Conference auction raised $11,515.

The 2009 Anaheim, Calif., North American Reptile Breeder’s Conference (NARBC) auction was held on Saturday, Sept.5.

This year’s auction raised $11,515, with the money to be split equally between two reptile rights organizations, the United States Association of Reptile Keepers (USARK) and the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC), said NARBC organizer Bob Ashley.

“We had a good turnout at the auction this year,” Ashley said. “It went well and we brought in good money. Some of the larger donations were from Geckos Etc., Basically Boas, Timberline, and BowTie Inc.”

The Auction Beneficiaries:
The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC) is a trade association representing the entire pet industry on live animal issues. PIJAC members include retailers, companion animal suppliers, manufacturers, wholesale distributors, manufacturers’ representatives, pet hobbyists, clubs, and other trade organizations.

The United States Association of Reptile Keepers (USARK) is a science- and education-based advocacy for the responsible private ownership of, and trade in, reptiles. Their goal is to facilitate cooperation between government agencies, the scientific community, and the private sector in order to produce policy proposals that will effectively address important husbandry and conservation issues.
