Learn how to keep leopard geckos no matter what they look like.

By Craig Stewart

It’s no fluke that the leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius) is one of the most popular pet reptiles in captivity. They’re easy to maintain, they have delightful personalities, and they tolerate handling. Add these qualities to their seemingly endless potential for unique and exciting morphs, and it’s obvious why they’ve enjoyed such wide appeal.

The leopard gecko’s common name comes from the full-body spotting typically found on adults. Ironically, this gecko’s appearance has evolved tremendously during the past 10 years, and many of today’s popular morphs have completely eliminated the spotting that gave this gecko its moniker. Throughout this article I hope to provide you with some interesting information about leopard geckos in the wild and captivity, and an update on the exciting revelations regarding the breeding of these geckos.
