Quarantining Herps

A quick tip on how to handle a new reptile.

Whenever adding a new reptile to your collection, keep the animal well away from the rest of your herps for a minimum of six to eight weeks, and up to 6 months, to avoid any possible disease transmission from the newcomer. This should be done regardless of how healthy the new specimen seems. Once the animal has been checked by a vet and seems acclimated and feeding well, it may be integrated into the main collection.

Great advice! I don't think you can say enough about it. It's helped me more than once.
