Answer: Emperor Newts (Tylototriton shanjing) are highly toxic newts that inhabit the high mountain regions in the Yunnan Province of China. Emperor newts, also referred to as Mandarin newts, can be found in small streams and pools where they feed on worms and small invertebrates. Though highly toxic, emperor newts are gentle little creatures that never exude their poison unless grabbed violently. The skull of the emperor newt sports a thick bony ridge (crown) that protects them from predators. Emperor newts can often be found in captivity, and do very well in a semi-aquatic setup with soil, moss, water and rocks. They feed well on worms and crickets. All Hail the Emperor Newt!

Winners: 10 winners are randomly selected and will receive 500 Club Reptile points. Winners will be notified by email.
