Another great North American Reptile Breeder's Conference and Trade Show has come and gone. As I mentioned in my blog entry last week, I attended the show in Anaheim, Calif., this past weekend. I had a blast, and judging from some of my show photos, I wasn’t the only one.
NARBC continues to be one of my favorite events for several reasons.
- It’s one of the largest reptile shows in Southern California. I like reptiles, and I like walking. This show nicely combines the two.
- There’s plenty to see. More than 120 vendors for the Anaheim show are listed on the NARBC website. Although I could feasibly walk through the show within an hour’s time, one pass only scratches the surface. I wandered the show for six hours, and each pass revealed something I’d missed before.
- I’ve got a history with NARBC. Three years ago it was the first reptile show I attended as a REPTILES magazine editor, so it holds some personal significance. I remember ogling the ball python morphs on display. My jaw spent a lot of time on the floor.
- It’s great for networking. Like all reptile shows, NARBC gives me the chance to put a face to a name, voice or e-mail address, and every year I take advantage of that opportunity.
I never know what’s going to happen at a reptile show. What am I going to see? Who am I going to meet? What will I learn? The answers always change, and I like it that way. It keeps things interesting. The slide show included in this blog illustrates some of what I took away from this year’s NARBC Anaheim show. Enjoy.
