Hello there Betty! Sorry I haven't been on for a while now. Our move went great, and I love it here! I've been offline for so long now because I got my heart broken :(. I fell in love with a guy who said he loved me, only for him to dump me shortly afterward and take "i love you" back :(. So yeah, I haven't really felt good enough to be blogging lately. Hopefully one day I'll find someone who loves me and can accept my reptiles, who are my babies. What's new with you and your pythons? All my critters love the sun here! WE WENT TO THE REPTILE SHOW!!!
While our ceiling was being fixed, I had to take the kids out of the house...so why not the reptile expo??? It was awesome! My seven year old son got a preying mantis for $10. I was looking for another leopard tortoise but I didn't see any that I liked. For some reason, the tortoises were a lot more pricey than the last reptile expo, when I got SB. I met this really nice lady who gave me advice on how to "fix" SB. He's been sluggish and he hasn't been eating. She told me to soak him into warm water with a little bit of apple juice in it. I also bought special food for him (supposed to be very good...even the non-profitable tortoise organization recommends it), and all natural liquid medication called REPTAID. I do have a challenge giving the medicine to him, since he's not eating and it has to be ingested. After soaking him into a warm water-apple juice mixture, I stroked his head and chin until he opened his mouth...and he did! I squirted the liquid medicine into his mouth. He would have made a face if he could...he was so cute! I hope this works. Anywho, I hope you're enjoying your weekend. I have to go back to work tomorrow...BUMMER!!! Here's a vote from SB. Later. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
What a day! Mommy got up at 7 AM and placed the gifts underneath the tree. She noticed there were water beads on the ceiling and thought that the roof was leaking (it was raining). When daddy got up he went to the attic and found out that one of the pipes was leaking and the whole living room ceiling is soaked!!! If you think that's bad, daddy, while crawling in the attic, put a big hole on the ceiling! Good thing he didn't fall! Other than that, it was a wonderful CHRISTMAS! We hope yours was as great as ours (minus the hole on the ceiling)! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY! Hello there! I got a 97 on that test so I guess it was worth it :D Its a weird day here today. First of all,Chocolates little girly Vanilla passed away yesterday :( The last couple of days she started acting weird, and then stopped eating. I think it had something to do with finding her outside in the freezing cold, and then transferring her to a summer like climate in the tank. Chocolate acts like he misses her alot. They used to hug and snuggle for hours :'(. Peaches has also gone into brumation. It's sad for me because shes not her self and just wants to dig and sleep, and she has completely stopped eating. I've been told not to worry by a bunch of people but it is still odd to me why she would go into brumation if her temps in her tank have been the same (111F basking spot and 90F cool spot) and her tank is still really bright. I also can't believe she won't eat again until spring. I'm going to cool down her temps tomorrow and make her a hide box. It feels like I'm saying goodbye to her. I'll miss my happy active Peaches :(. If brumation is best for her than I can only let her do her thing and wait for the old Peaches to return in spring. I got a new bulb for my tree frogs the other day, and now they're coming OUT of brumation, and singing alot, so hopefully they will mate. It's pretty crazy with everyone going in and out of brumation here. I also don't feel like myself during this time of year I spend so much time outdoors when it's warm out that this cold dark weather makes me feel like sleeping most of the day. Do any of your pythons brumate? I know alot of herps need brumation before they will breed so I'm surprised they bred at this time of the year! Heres vote for your family tonight, take care! Im sorry that you are still sick! I hate being sick! nothing much is going on here Petunia is shedding! Lilly and glory didnt eat this weekend! Blah! How about over there? Im sorry that Norma is getting so aggressive! Why is she being like that? Yeah you should carry her around in a pillow case! Haha! Petunia was my first and when I got him lord he was a fussy thing I couldnt touch anywhere near his head! But I held him all day everyday and he got used to me! Now he is the sweetest of everyone I think! I know lilly would never strike at me with some snakes you just know that they arent the biteing type! But when she lays her eggs and I haft to take her away it might happen! I feel so bad about taking the away from their babies they love em so much! Its so sweet how they curl up on top of them! I just am going to feel so bad! Haha! The babies are just way too cute! Im going to have way too much fun with them! Say hello to everyone for me! Haha! Take care! Hope you feel better! Sorry for this C/P blog...
I worked today and I'm dead tired. I want to blog all of you fast so I can go to bed. It is finally raining here. We're expecting a huge storm. The dogs will be inside the house and I'll be hearing the kitties hiss a lot more. I'm now using the heat lamp for SB, but I usually turn it off by midday, because it does get hot. Are you getting the turkey ready? Hubby and I will be working on Thanksgiving. We'll celebrate the following Sunday. A vote for ya and blog back soon. WE HEARD RANDY LIKED ALI BETTER THAN YOU...
All the ANIMAL NETWORK channels were having problems. One on my kitties was running for COTD on 11/18 (to be COTD yesterday) but it never happened. The cat who got COTD on 11/18 stayed displayed as COTD until midday today! I think here on RC, Monty stayed ROTD for the same period of time. I spent hours thanking people dropping off my kitty's page with votes...FOR NOTHING! Now, we'll try again to make him COTD this coming Tuesday (voting on Monday). How soon before you know the results of this snake mating? How long before a snake's egg hatch? My hubby says some breeds of snakes give live births instead of lay eggs. Is that true? If so, is BP one of those? How exciting! I would love to breed tortoises, but I don't have the space nor time. Maybe when I retire. Hubby and I are planning to buy a horse property, if not a farm when we're old. I love animals, and wish to breed AKITAS. It's still warm here, but I tried turning on the heat lamp again today...and I was right there to supervise SB. This time I adjusted the height of it so it was positioned higher from the tank. In about 20 minutes, the temperature crept up to 100 degrees! Hubby brought up a good point...I placed the thermometer closer to the top rim of the tank, so the reading may be higher. It should be positioned lower toward the bottom where SB hangs out. That little tortoise seemed to enjoy the heat...he was right underneath the heat lamp! I turned it off after that. I've decided to keep the lamp, but I'll buy one with a lower wattage. There will be a reptile expo next January, so I think that will be the time I buy my supplies. So...
...that's how you produce those beautiful colors! I thought snakes liked it warm, but I guess they need cooler temp to breed. So complicated, yet sounds so exciting! You got me interested in snakes more than anyone ever has...not that anyone has tried! Wait 'til I tell my hubby! He was trying to get me to hold this HUGE phyton at the county fair when we were dating. I REFUSED of course! Thought he'd dump me but we ended up married with 3 kids! LOL! He's not into snakes, but he does enjoy looking at them...always says they're gorgeous graceful creatures. Thanks again and a vote for BETTY! PS. It's HOT and dry here in So.
