Hi! My name is Ginny.

I am a Desert Tortoise from Peoria.

16 years old

Female

Turtles & Tortoises

A little more than a foot in length.

We adopted her from the Arizona Fish & Game Department. She likes strawberries and will go for your fingers if they are painted red. She is a real sweetheart though and in the summer she sometimes walks right inside the house! When she wants in she taps on the glass door with her claws til we give in or shut the blinds. Ginny hibernates in a burrow she dug under a bush fom October to May.

  Hi there
I was just wondering about tortoises. I'm going to get one soon, but I know nothing about them! You seem to be a reptile person, so I thought that maybe you could tell me a little bit about them. First of all, how do you tell if it is a male or female? Second, what is the best breed of tortoise for a beginner? Third, do they move pretty slow? Last of all, what are some good names for a girl? I've thought of lots for a male, but Emerald is all I could think of for a girl tortoise! Hope to hear from you soon!

Come visit me, Elliot.

  Hi
It depends on how big your snake is if you're getting a baby the 20 gal will be fine for a while if you get an adult snake you want to get a 30 or 40 gal. I usually recomend people go ahead and get the bigger tank so that way your snake has more room and you won't have to upgrade tanks as quickly. Plus you can put a stick in the 30 gallon and watch the babies learn how to crawl on a stick it's kinda funny watching them fall off branches that are so close to the ground. Are you going to get a normal or a morph like an albino? Cute turtle I allways stop and help them across the street when I see them. v4u

  Hi Ginny,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, emperor scorpions are more likely to back away from your hand rather than charge to pinch or to sting it. But don't temp fate, there is always a chance I take when put my hand Pyn's cage. I always look to see where she is before I put my hand in her cage because she could pinch or sting me anytime she wants. Here's a vote for you!

Hi Ginny. Sorry, Mom doesn't have an answer for that because she hasn't ever heard that before. I am kept completely by myself. Mom doesn't know how the humidity levels and crickets would do with the crabs. A lot of people keep their tarantulas on a sandy substrate, which goes well with crabs, too. Some tarantulas even like to make burrows in the sand.
