Steppe Runners are new to the U.S. the are from the Steppes of Russia. Bodywise, the grow to 5-7 inches. They have a very long tail. They will only need a 10 gallon, it will suite them for life sence they aren't out a whole lot. Bedding wise the reptile care sheet suggest shedded cardboard or aspen but out of expierence I highly suggest play sand or reptile sand. They absoulutly LOVE to dig, it's rather the most productive and goal of life to them. Not to get away but just to dig and build big sand doons. It's fun to watch. They need UV lighting, a UVA UVB floresent bulb is required, and to reach correct temperature, I also suggest a Red Nightlight bulb 60 wats. Have a box with homemad "ramps" (such as foam) that reaches close to the top of the cage. They need this to bask. A vertical log will alsowork as long as it's steady. Of course, water dish, worms, crickets, food dish is needed, and that is the easy but great housing requirements for Steppe Runners! It would be cool if I wasn't the only one on RC with one....
