Hi! My name is Spring ;].
I am an Anole from Union.
 2 years old
 Female
 Lizards
 4.5" S to T
 I found "Spring" in a doormat that had been folded in half on our front porch in the fall of '07. It was the first heavy frost the night before. She was brown and half frozen, barely making an effort to escape my warm hand. I quickly fixed a screened 10 gallon tank with a lamp and a UVB light, put a water fountain in there and swore she'd be released the following ---Spring! Our Granddaughter pleaded to keep her and I've grown so attached to her! Yet... she'a not a captive born, she produces eggs, month after month and feel that it's time to release her in a month or so, once there's no fear of cold nights. She needs to mate and live out what's left of her life the way it was intended. We'll miss having her in the house but it will be great to see her have babies in the front yard this year! Now, if we can only get our 7 yr. old GrandDaughter(& my heart!) used to the idea... wish us luck!
Update... well, it's July 2010 and I still have Spring, she's healthy and seems happy. She hasn't produced an egg in about 5-6 months now. I'm wondering if that part of her life is over? Husband & Son have finally given up on harping that I should let her go, I think I've made the right decision... especially after finding the neighbor's cat on the front porch for the 1000th time. At least he was munching on a bug this last time. He was one of my fears of letting her loose inn the yard. My cat never goes out but there are several in our neighborhood.
Spring never seems afraid of me, I just re-did her tank with Eco-Earth & live plants. She seemed a bit miffed the first few days but once she realized it was still her "stuff" in there she adapted quickly. Back to her pretty green self with even more hiding spaces, she seems quite at home. ;]
RIP Sweet Spring!
My sweet little girl passed away 7/24/2011. She was eating even up until the day before. She was quite the little huntress even as she was losing her eye sight in her left eye. She grew very fond of micro-miniworms from Backwoods Farms. Shee'd scoot around and snatch them up so fast! I've been hand feeding her for the last few days as she just didn't have the energy to hunt. I'm still amazed she lived as long as she did--I'd always been told they only live 2 years or so! Spring will be sorely missed, I dread telling my now 10 yr. old granddaughter that Spring has passed away. More tears from us, I know. ;( Loved you so, Little Girl!!!

Same Problem
I've also become attached to a wild. I found a Toad flipped over in the pond across the street from my house. She was bloated and was skin and bones except for the bloating:(. I fed her and named her Banana because of her yellow stomache. I'm very attached to her and she likes ppl. Yesterday i tried to realese her and she ddnt move the whole day! I picked her up and she started acting like a ball of energy. I tried again and she hoped right back into my hand<3
I think both of us are going ton have to deal with our little wild ones for the rest of their lives!!!!

I LOVE YOUR REPTS THERE AMAZING AND THANKS FOR LEAVING THOSE COMMENTS BECAUSE MY APRICOT PLEUBLIAN MILKSNAKE DIED 2 DAYS AGO MAY HE REST IN PEACE HE DIED OF A SKIN INFECTION ON HIS BELLY I LOVED HIS COLORS, BUT IT ALL STARTED WHEN WE LOST HIM 4 MONTHS AGO WE GAVE UP SEARCHING INTILL ONE DAY I WAS DOING LAUNDRY AND I FOUND HIM IN ONE OF THE LOADS SO HE MUST HAVE BEEN STAYING DOWN IN THE BASEMENT FOR 3 MONTHS WE GAVE HIM A PINKIE AND HE WAS NEARLY DEHYDRATED AND YOU COULD SEE THE BONE [THE RIBS] HE WAS STARVING TO DEATH THEN A HHALF A MONTH LATER HE STOPPED EATING THEN WE NOTICED THE SKIN INFECTION, WE USED THE CREAM THEY GAVE US, BUT IT WAS TO LATE WE COULDN'T FIGHT THE INFECTION AND HE DIED 2 DAYS AGO.
