Hey Cata!!
I hope you all are doing good. All the critters are doing good. Liz died a couple of months back. I have no idea what went wrong. No more chams for me. I mean it this time. I have lost 4 in a 2 year period. I give up. Yoshi is doing really good. He has a tenacious appetite.Mortoise is also doing super. He is very busy all day. I'M BAAAAAAACK!!!
Mommy & daddy are back from their romantic getaway! They actually came home yesterday, but my blogging business did not start in full speed until today. They loved it! It was mommy's second time and daddy's first time to visit Hearst Castle. But, it was mommy's first time to tour the upper levels of the main house Casa Grande. If you appreciate antiques and arts, you gotta check out this castle! It was cold and gloomy in Central Cali, but as they drove south to head home, it was back to 105F! ...WHAZUP??? It has cooled down a lot, so mommy doesn't let me out in my sun room until after noon. I'm outside sun bathing as mommy blogs. I'm lovin' it! OH BOY!!!
I was out almost all day today! From 9 AM til 5 PM...it felt like I had a full time job! LOL! Mommy found out that I stayed underneath my tunnel most of the day. Do I still get the benefit of the natural sunlight? Mommy hopes so. They go through a lot of trouble moving me indoor to outdoor daily. After all, Bella (the English Bully) and I share the crate. She uses it at night to sleep, and it is my "sunroom" during the day...LOL! All I have to say is this...SHE STINKS!
But guess what...I overheard that daddy would put up a big crate (used to be Zabi's the akita when he was a pup) tomorrow! It will be permanently at the back for me, myself and I! Mommy saved a box that will be my new "tunnel". AWESOME! She'll take a pic as soon as it's all set up. I can't wait! Lots of room for me to roam, although mommy said I'd probably stay underneath the tunnel anyway.

I MISSED YOU SO!!!
FINALLY!!! I get to blog to my dear friends! Well...actually, mommy helps me a lot. She was MIA for a LOOOOOONG time! I visited RC everyday while she was gone...I just couldn't type with these stubby feet of mine...LOL!
The family had a great Summer break. They spent three nights at the Disneyland Hotel, and then five nights at San Diego. Mommy was broke after those three days at Disneyland! The food was sooooooo expensive!
The family still misses ZIGGY the frenchie. Mommy adopted two female dogs...Zina the frenchie and Bella the english bully. This is a full house and it is always busy around here.
As for me, I'm growing big fast! Mommy really needs to plan my new enclosure soon. I eat twice as much and I can barely fit into my tunnel now.
The Anaheim Reptile Expo is going on this weekend. Mommy is debating whether or not to go to the expo. The Pomona county fair is her other choice, but the fair will go on for a month. You know how weak my mommy is...if she goes to the expo, she might come back with another tortoise. I dread that thought! Jacob, mommy's oldest son, does want another milipede. The other one they got for him is thriving well.

READY FOR THIS???
WE HAD A BLAST AT THE SAN DIEGO REPTILE EXPO!!! We got our son a milipede, and I got myself...NOTHING!!! GOTCHA! Lots of beautiful tortoises there but when SB gets big I don't even know what to do with her...so getting another tortoise wouldn't be a good idea. What I really wanted was a BEARDIE. Those are so cute! I found one I liked for $89.99! And it was a BIG FAT one...just the way I like them. But...Mr. CRANKY said NO, NO, NOOOOOO!!!! Beside, the thought of taking care of another reptile enclosure is not pleasant. I take good care of my little tortoise, so I put a lot of time and energy into her.
I got cheap coconut shavings and food for SB...half priced! What I was looking for was fresh cactuses, but they had none.
My son Jacob named his new pet KIRBY, although everybody else calls it DUMB-DUMB...LOL!
The next reptile expo will be in September at the Anaheim Convention Center. Hopefully, I'll get myself a beardie then. The plan is to get my hubby into it, so he'll be taking care of the enclosure while I'll be enjoying the beardie :) I know...WISHFUL THINKING!
We went to see "UP" in 3D today...FINALLY! It was a great movie...although our four year old got restless in the middle of it, and we had to stuff him with popcorn and soda.
Believe or not...I'm still OFF tomorrow! Two days in a row not having to go to work...that's RARE for me. The plan is to see TRANSFORMERS, but we'll only be taking our oldest son. We'll also be checking on a junior drum set for Jacob. He's been taking lessons, and he really enjoys it. He's good at it, too.

FINALLY...
I get to blog! I worked my usual three day weekend. We missed Father's Day. I left my hubby his gift on our bed. Since he works the night shift and I work during the day, when we work the same days, we don't see each other at all (that's what makes our marriage work...LOL!). He loved the gifts...a pair of camouflage crocs clogs and a coffee mug personalized with the kids' pic. We took him to breakfast this morning. The poor guy was a zombie after two nights at work.
I'm taking the kids to Legoland this coming Thursday. It will be a nice sunny warm day. We're going with my friend and her two kids. We'll have five kids all together...WISH US LUCK! We really need it.
SB is more active...thank goodness! The last thing I need is a sick tortoise. Since I'm off today, I observed what she did the whole morning after I turned on her UVB light and gave her salad. Here it is: It took her 30 minutes to slowly wake up. Then, she took her time to get to her dish (another 30 minutes...the good life of SB the tortoise...LOL!). She nibbled here and there for about 20 minutes then she walked around. She did this about three cycles. After that, she went to her dish and tried to soak herself, but it is now too small for her (gotta remind myself to get a bigger one). Then, she took a long nap. I ran errands, and when I came back around 03:15 pm, she was eating again! You know...I don't mind being a tortoise...LOL!

It was a nice cool day...
...perfect for our dog walk. We had a blast and we'll definitely do it again next year. I raised $167...a bit less than last year, but that was expected, considering the difficult economic times we're going through. Our akita, Zabi, was so popular. There was only one other akita at the walk. I guess they are not the kind to mingle around other dogs. He did surprisingly well. He almost pulled my arm off, and growled a couple of times, but he didn't do anything I couldn't handle. We did the full three mile walk. Even Zorro the pug did it without having a heart attack. I guess because it wasn't as warm this year as last year.
Here's a vote and enjoy the rest of your weekend. I'll enjoy mine tomorrow at work :(

Nothing much going on here...
When the kids were in school today, hubby and I went to do some errands. Spent lots of $$$ on food! Boy...everything is so expensive nowadays!
Back to work I go tomorrow, then I have to attend a mandatory class on Thursday. After that, another two days working. GLAD IT'S OVER!!!
I had root canal today and I have to say that it wasn't bad at all! Maybe the fact that the doc gave me two numbing shots helped (after I groaned out loud...I have no pain tolerance whatsoever!).
SB's heat lamp went out the other day and I told my hubby to buy me one since I was working three days straight...and of course he didn't! SB stopped eating because it was too cold. He hasn't eaten for two days. Hubby finally bought the lamp yesterday but it didn't work. I had to bring it back to Petsmart today and I got two, one as a spare. He moved a little bit and I just gave him some fresh veggies. I'll have to soak him tonight. Maybe that will perk him up. I'm hoping that he'll start eating soon.

IT'S NOT LOOKING GOOD...
My TAX guy called me today and told me to pick up my TAX papers tomorrow at 1 PM. It looks like Legoland will have to wait...AGAIN!!! My kids are very upset. As for the TAX, I may have to pay this year...BLAH! I made too much last year, but the sad thing is...I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE MONEY WENT!!! Yep...that sounds like me! I'm bad with money! I went and looked up some stuff.I came across a tortoise same age and size of Cata but it is a female.Go to Google and type in Sulcata growth rate chart and pictures.Once you do that go to Sulcata growth records.If that does not work go to www.anapsid.org/images/sulcatta-growth-charts.pdf

SPRING BREAK!!!
I worked today and had a busy day! The good thing is...I'll be off for the next two days...that's rare for me! Hubby and I have a date to see Avenue Q the musical at Costa Mesa tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait!!! Everybody said that it was hilarious!!! The kids are off for Spring BREAK all week. The bad news is my vacation was denied (no vacation allowed until May because of the move). I do have a stretch of days off, so we're whale watching on Monday at Long Beach with the kids. Then, on Wednesday, off we go to Legoland with a friend of mine and her kids (my hubby will be working). Something to look forward to. Hopefully you have something exciting going on for the weekend...here's a vote. LATER!
PS. How to differentiate gender: Flip the tortoise over and look at the egde of the shell where its tail comes out...if it's shaped like a "V" it's a male, a "U" female. I feed SB plenty each day but he doesn't finish it all, so don't worry about over feeding. I'm pretty sure they know when to stop. I'M BAAAAAAACK!!!
FINALLY!!! I thought the move to the new hospital was stressful...BOY, was I wrong!!! Now that we're in the new hospital, it's CHAOS!!! First of all, I have to give myself extra time to get to my unit! I was lost yesterday and I was almost late. Second, we have tons of new equipments to deal with, and third...we look like fools in front of our patients, not knowing how to operate the machineries and locate where things are! And then the new extension numbers to the other departments...OMG! I was dead tired when I got home yesterday. One floor of that building equals the size of two foot ball fields...imagine that!
SB is doing well. I finally soaked him today, and he is huge!!! I took a good look at down there and I think SB can be a SPONGEBOBITA, although my daughter says we should name "HER" SPONGEBOBILICIOUS...LOL! He eats like there is no tomorrow. He likes the organic spring mix better than just one kind of veggy...variety is always good.

Stopping by to drop you all a vote.It was cold this morning.I went and worked in my yard friday tried to get some fresh mulch in my flowerbeds and do some pruning.I hope the temps don't drop back down.I took the Ficus tree out I had bought for Oscar to hangout in and put it outside.I am shocked it lived in my house all winter.It had lost alot of leaves but it will not take long for it to fill back out. 24 years!!!
WOW!!! We'll celebrate our 9th anniversary on 9/20. Last year we went to Vegas to celebrate. This year, we're going to San Simeon to visit the HEARST CASTLE. Next year for our 10th we're planning to go to NEW YORK...but we'll see. (Scary music playing...) It is indeed Friday the 13th!!! Hubby loves the gifts I got him! The kids were ready outside our bedroom this morning, when he opened the door after sleeping in. We all sang Happy Birthday to him. Tonight is the big night...my mom in law will be baby and pet-sitting while hubby and I go celebrate his birthday with our special date. We're going to Todai (Japanese all you can eat sushi and more...it's what he wants) for an early dinner, then off we go to the Mark Taper Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles to watch Pippin the musical. He was really surprised when he saw the tickets. I was good this time...I'm usually not good at keeping secret, you see. Here's a TGIF vote and I hope you'll enjoy your weekend. Hi, Cata. Yes...I'm eating and growing. I seem to be a happy tortoise right now. Today, mommy finally took the time to post the pics of my shell. Not only do I have a heart pattern, but a crown pattern as well. It's upside down (it really depends on how you look at it) and it's right below the heart. Check those pics out posted on my page. I'm officially the "KING of LOVE"! What a perfect timing to earn such title...with Valentine's Day just days away. Here's my mommy...it's her turn to say something: I was so tired after a long day at work yesterday, I didn't sign on RC and blog. It was gloomy and cold, with occasional rain. We went to the mall and let the kids play at the play ground. There was not much we could do with the on and off rain. The mall was empty for a Sunday...guess we are in recession.
