Hey Hagrid!
We just got back from our break.I got a whole room to myself!!!Well I had to share it with Dakota, but she only wanted the bed.Mommy went trail riding and I coudlnt go along, but I got to go to the feed store with her.I scared everybody!Tee hee!I sat on Mommy's shoulder and bobbed my head.Dakota just wanted to get the crickets that were stuck in the box.Well I better go get warmed up.AV4U!!!Come visit me, Samy.

Dakota bit grandma yesterday!Tee Hee!For V-day, we got tons of fruits, especially kiwi.And mommy got a present too, more animals.She got three desert toroises the size of quarters.I dont like them, theyll get big and scary... but Dakota thinks theyre food and tries to eat them through the glass.Mommy also has a presentation on Monday and is very nervous that she wont be able to memorize it in time.Its on the conservation of endangered wildlife.Mommy hasnt been taking me outside even though it has been warm out, the ravens and road runner and hawks have been around.Well I gotta go help Mommy study for her Algebra 2 test, it sounds scary with all of the numbers and letters, ttyl, av4u bye!Come visit me, Samy.

I heard about Karana, one name that I might want to change it to is Kaga, it is Native American and means chronicler.Im sorry to hear your loss, seems like weve all been getting hit by the sadness latley.Well on the second, mommy had an FFA meeting and she brought Dakota, "I hid in the corner and fell asleep", mommy asked Mr.Wright "the ag instructor" if he knew if Dakota was a boy or girl...He wasnt even sure what kind of lizard Dakota was!Oh well, Dakota has settled down alot, but her claws hurt!Mommy gots a bunch of owies from her claws...Tee hee.Mommy also got some peach mango flavored tea, which she says is really good "she's quitting soda", I wanted to try some, but Mommy doesnt think it would be good for me, so I have to stick with the mango water.Uh-o...Mommy says that I gots to have a bath tonight, I love to splash and use my tail as a propeller, but Dakota still isnt sure about it.More for me then!Anyway gtg get a bath!AV4U...:PCome visit me, Samy.

Hiya, its Samy
Just Samy here.Dakota has been extremely hyper and I just cant keep up with her...she is putting on alot of wieght quickly.She likes to pick on me too, so mommy is sectioning off the cage for a while, so maybe she will be nice.Mommy has also been trying to teach her a few things like to open her mouth on command by mommy running her finger on the side of her mouth.It works for her, but I dont like to open my mouth unless there is food or water going in it.M ommy still lets me cuddle with her though, but Dakota likes to keep her on her feet.But I still gets all the food I want!I hope it gets warm soon, then I get to go outside everyday!I just dont like the spearows and bunnies that hang around the yard, they are scary.Anyway, AV4U!Talk 2 u l8ter!Come visit me, Samy.

Our Christmas vacation had its ups and downs.Tigris has passed on and is hopefully watching over Samy:'(.Tigris passed away on the 1st after she went to bed.She had her burial on the 2nd which I thought was strange because its my sister's b day also.Then on the 12th, I went to my regular FFA meeting, which gave me a surprise.They had a half grown beardie with sores and scars on her.They wanted me to take her home to doctor her and get her better.I willingly took her home. I named her Dakota, and she is keeping Samy on his toes.I think she might just stay.AV4UCome visit me, Samy.

I think that Mommy is just trying to make me jealous.She rescued two three toed box turtles that were malnourished and dehydrated, so of course, they got extra attention.They are doing well now and starting to hybernate though.I am going to Cali for Christmas.Mommy is packing now, we have to leave tomorrow morning...But I get to see my uncle when we get there for the first time!It was supposed to be a surprise, but I overheard!Tehe!I also get to see my grandad, great uncles and aunts, my great grandparents, and other people!Anyway, Merry Christmas to you, and a happy new year!AV4U!Come visit me, Samy.

Their sooo weird!Thanksgiving was great to (thats when we had papaya!)Poor momy, she had to dig up ragwort all day in the cold windy weather.Now she has really bad allergies.Im glad I dont got allergies!She also gots a bite on her hand thats infected :c The goats bit her.Anyway, I get to meet my Grandpa on Christmas!Thats about all going on here.AV4U!Come visit me, Samy.

HOT! HOT! HOT!!!
We went to my monthly pug meetup this morning and we only stayed for 30 minutes. It was just too hot for the short nosed dogs. My Frenchie was making all kinds of nasal noises. There wasn't enough shade at the dog park.
We're going to Disneyland (AGAIN!) tomorrow. They open from 8 AM until midnight daily all summer, so we'll be there bright and early. That means I have to get up at the crack of dawn. Getting three kids ready and out of the house is a big time consuming job.
I was about to feed SB some fruits this morning. Good thing I didn't. I went on line and found out that fruits are not good for Leopard tortoises. I saw some photos of sick tortoises with deformed shells...it broke my heart! Bad diet can cause all kinds of problems. I don't think I feed SB accordingly (their diet should be 70% grass), but she seems to be healthy. I tried giving her grass, but she wouldn't eat it.

Peet's Owner Here...
So I've finally come back on RC to tell everyone what happened. Little Petrie passed away this past Saturday night. It was the worst day of my life. I want to educate people on what happened so NO ONE will have to go through what we did. I know Petrie would want the same thing and she'd want all of her friends on RC to know. Petrie was extremely calcium deficient from laying so many eggs. (She laid 4) I knew she would be. I have my pet store on speed dial so I call them constantly when things happen. They told me to make sure she eats and gets enough calcium so I made sure that I had food in her cage at all times for her. But it wasn't enough. She wouldn't eat. Knowing her history of not eating for weeks, sometimes months at a time, I thought she'd eat when she was ready. Well, it was too late. Laying eggs takes so much out of a reptile I didn't even realize and no body told me. She ended up going into a comatose state and dying within hours or me taking her to the hospital. The thing with reptiles is they don't show any signs of distress until it's too late. Petrie was fine, hopping around and on my shoulder just hours earlier. The doctor said this was the most common reason that people take their reptiles in. My advice to everyone out there: if your reptile lays eggs and doesn't eat even 2 days afterwards, TAKE HER IN to have her get a dose of calcium or whatever it is she may need. Petrie had another 10 years with me (at least) so please if your reptile lays eggs, be AWARE and make sure they get enough of the calcium and the vitamins that they need. READY FOR THIS???
WE HAD A BLAST AT THE SAN DIEGO REPTILE EXPO!!! We got our son a milipede, and I got myself...NOTHING!!! GOTCHA! Lots of beautiful tortoises there but when SB gets big I don't even know what to do with her...so getting another tortoise wouldn't be a good idea. What I really wanted was a BEARDIE. Those are so cute! I found one I liked for $89.99! And it was a BIG FAT one...just the way I like them. But...Mr. CRANKY said NO, NO, NOOOOOO!!!! Beside, the thought of taking care of another reptile enclosure is not pleasant. I take good care of my little tortoise, so I put a lot of time and energy into her.
I got cheap coconut shavings and food for SB...half priced! What I was looking for was fresh cactuses, but they had none.
My son Jacob named his new pet KIRBY, although everybody else calls it DUMB-DUMB...LOL!
The next reptile expo will be in September at the Anaheim Convention Center. Hopefully, I'll get myself a beardie then. The plan is to get my hubby into it, so he'll be taking care of the enclosure while I'll be enjoying the beardie :) I know...WISHFUL THINKING!
We went to see "UP" in 3D today...FINALLY! It was a great movie...although our four year old got restless in the middle of it, and we had to stuff him with popcorn and soda.
Believe or not...I'm still OFF tomorrow! Two days in a row not having to go to work...that's RARE for me. The plan is to see TRANSFORMERS, but we'll only be taking our oldest son. We'll also be checking on a junior drum set for Jacob. He's been taking lessons, and he really enjoys it. He's good at it, too.

I'M LOVIN' IT!!!
My iPhone that is! It does so many things. The problem is, it doesn't come with a manual. Just like a computer, you kinda have to figure it out yourself.
Finally, it is getting warmer...high in the mid 80s. I like it cool, so I hope it won't get any hotter than this...wishful thinking! With global warming, anything goes.
With this warm weather, I don't have to keep SB's heat lamp on all day. She is still sluggish, waking up only to eat. But other than that, she seems healthy.
The kids are driving me nuts! Their summer camp won't start until the first week of July to the beginning of August...I CAN'T WAIT! Then, I'll have my three week vacation...WOOHOO!!!
I'll be working my three day weekend, so a vote for you and have a great weekend. Later.

OMG!!!
I'm sooooo mad at mommy! This time I refused to accept her excuse! OK...busy with the kids, grocery shopping, working...FINE! But playing with her new iPhone...a NO NO!!! My social life on RC is far more important than her little electronic gadget...but apparently, she didn't think so! She said she was just too excited, because she'd been wanting the iPhone since it first came out years ago, and daddy finally said yes.
Anywho, how are you? Long time no blog. It's real humid and way too cool to be a June day. Mommy thinks that's why I've been a bit sluggish than usual...sleeping in until late. Why is that when the humans snooze until late, nobody thinks it's the humidity or the weather? Gimme a BREAK! Why do they want me to wake up at the break of DAWN when I have a whole lot of NUTHIN' to do??? But, I'm still eating like a piglet, so no worry.
The family spent almost all day at home. They're watching the MBA final...go LAKERS!

:) I'M STILL SB...
Mommy and I both love the initial SB, so my full name is now SPONGELINA BALLERINA...SB it is. I'm growing like a weed...you won't believe how big I've gotten in merely nine months! Mommy says that I get bigger each time she soaks me, and she does it two to three times a week. Imagine that! I think I'm going through a growth spurt. No wonder I eat like there's no tomorrow. My shell has more yellow now, mainly in between those patterns of crown, heart, fried drum stick, etc...LOL! I'll have mommy take a pic of me one of these days and you'll see the difference. Mommy is working tomorrow, but she'll be off on Saturday. She's taking the kids to her pug meetup in the morning, then to a kid's birthday party in the afternoon. It was a nice cool day...
...perfect for our dog walk. We had a blast and we'll definitely do it again next year. I raised $167...a bit less than last year, but that was expected, considering the difficult economic times we're going through. Our akita, Zabi, was so popular. There was only one other akita at the walk. I guess they are not the kind to mingle around other dogs. He did surprisingly well. He almost pulled my arm off, and growled a couple of times, but he didn't do anything I couldn't handle. We did the full three mile walk. Even Zorro the pug did it without having a heart attack. I guess because it wasn't as warm this year as last year.
Here's a vote and enjoy the rest of your weekend. I'll enjoy mine tomorrow at work :(

MOTHER NATURE NEEDS TO MAKE UP HER MIND!!!
The highest it got today was 66 degrees, and it was 105 two days ago! GLOBAL WARMING...CLIMATE CHANGE...call it whatever you want...this is not good! I dressed my kids like it was summer, thinking that it would warm up later. They were freezing! SB's heat lamp has been on all day. He seems to be sluggish, so I think he is due for another soak. As long as he's eating, I'm not worried.
I'll be working three days straight, and I have an 8 hour class on Monday. I'm being trained to be a relief charge nurse...I hate it, but they put me in charge anyway, so I might as well learn to be one. Beside, I get paid to attend the class.
If you don't see me this weekend, you know why. Here's a vote and have a great weekend. Later.

It's cooling down...
That was what I heard. I was at work all day today so I didn't get to enjoy the great outdoor. If I worked 12 hours every single day, I might as well be a VAMPIRE, because I wouldn't see daylight!
I'm getting ready for SUMMER. I'm buying passes for Raging Waters and Disneyland to keep the kids busy. They will be in Summer school until mid July. We're still undecided as to where to go during the three weeks vacation in August. The last time we went for a cruise we had to have two rooms, since only 4 were allowed in one room. We had to take my mom in law with us. It was quite expensive. If that's the case then the cruise is off. I want to go for an all inclusive trip to Mexico, but my hubby hates flying. It seems like we'll most likely end up going where we always go for vacation...San Diego or San Francisco.
Anywho, I'll be off tomorrow and I'll be volunteering at my son's school. Then...my dreadful three day weekend at work! My son Jacob will be eight on Sunday, but we'll celebrate it next week along with my parents. It will also be a mother's day brunch since we both will be working mother's day weekend.
