|Geckos Pick their owners too:)
I decided to write this note just as to record memories (big shocker there, I forget everything unless it is in a photograph or in a blog). But to make a long story short, I been out of work because of temporary disability...so I been depressed about being home so much. I also hardly buy anything for myself except for maybe one nice thing a year. So from what I recalled for this year...I didn't buy anything for myself this year so far. So what do I do? I go back to my fans page of Supremegeckos. I start reading about them, and the more I learned...the more I wanted to have one. Or two...lol. I checked out what was available on the site for colors. And they were all beautiful, I couldn't decide so I ordered two! Wally (the breeder of these wonderful creatures) were able to send em out the next day!
I never ordered animals before so I was quite excited and nervous about them coming in. But they came in safe and sound from the US mail of all things! They were packaged in a box filled with newspaper and styrofoam and two little containers. Those two little containers that had a soft moist white cloth in each one. I saw our carrot tail first, the yellow color was outstanding and stood out soo much! And the other container contained my little girl Imamu which you could hardly see at first except for a pair of eyes peering out at you. Than you noticed the little white body. So anyway, I thought both of these girls would be my own. But I shall tell you I couldn't be more wrong. Apparently our carrot tail grew quite fond rather quickly of my husband!
When I took Imamu out, I knew already that I bonded with this little girl. She seemed quite content when I took her out of her
container. When I put her in her new enviroment, she became shy and slightly scared. Her poor little legs shook each time she
took a step at first!! Funny thing, she reminds me of me....slight anxiety until she is held than she is happy. Too bad I can't hold her
again till about a week (they have to get used to their enviroment). But I definitely new Imamu was meant for me:)
Now our other girly...well she was hyper when I took her out of her container. She wanted to go go go! Lol! This girl did not want to be held. Her personalty is energetic as it was her color. But when she was put in her tank with Imamu, this lizard acted like she lived their her whole life. She walked around with confidence and got into everything! Than my husband had to adjust something in their tank. I
warned him about our hyper one that she may get out (the glass tank actually has doors that swing out in the front). And surprisingly,
when he put his hand in there our carrot tail started climbing on his arm! He even rubbed her under her chin....so much for a lizard
that didn't like to be handled! So I told my husband, you get to name that one because that one is yours.
It just shows that lizards pick their owners too:)
