Russ CaseReptileChannel Editor Russ Case

ReptileChannel Editor Russ Case is a long-time reptile enthusiast, beginning with a childhood spent in constant search of reptiles and amphibians to keep as pets, originating in the woods of his native New Jersey and later in the scrub and forests of Southern California. He has kept many different pet lizards, turtles and snakes, as well as, briefly, a single crocodilian (a spectacled caiman).

A professional editor since the mid-1980s, in 1993 he was hired by Fancy Publications (now I-5 Publishing, LLC) to be the managing editor of Bird Talk and the brand-new REPTILES magazine. REPTILES was an immediate hit, changing from a bimonthly magazine to a monthly and requiring Case to leave Bird Talk to focus solely on REPTILES and its annual sister magazine, Reptiles USA. REPTILES quickly cemented its position as an industry leader in promoting the successful keeping of pet reptiles and amphibians, and in 2001 Case became the magazine’s lead editor.

He is also the group editor of Aquarium Fish International, Aquarium USA, Marine Fish and Reef USA, Coral and Reef USA, Motorcycle Consumer News, Ponds USA, Auto Restorer and FishChannel.com, as well as a consulting editor for BowTie Press. He has written three children’s books about reptiles: Snakes, Lizards and Turtles and Tortoises comprise the Beginning Vivarium Systems series of books by BowTie Press. When time permits, Case also writes the blog, "Random Neural Firings of a REPTILES Editor,” and he can often be found engaging the reptile community on the REPTILES Facebook page.
